Poco is finally preparing to introduce its second F series smartphone in India, the Poco F3 GT, nearly three years after introducing the popular Poco F1 to the market. As previously announced, the Poco F3 GT will be available for purchase starting in the third quarter of 2021, which is a month earlier than previously predicted by the smartphone manufacturer.

Anuj Sharma, Poco India Official revealed

Anuj Sharma, Country Director for Poco India, revealed to a news agency – India Today in an exclusive interview that the Poco F3 GT will be launched in the country by July 2021 at the earliest. Sharma stated that Poco had originally planned to debut the new phone in August or September, but that the company will release the device as early as July.

“When I looked at the feasibility, it appeared to be doable to launch in July as originally planned. As a result, we should be able to launch sometime this month,” Anuj affirmed.

He went on to say that now was a good moment to assess the current position of Poco as a brand.

“Originally, we planned to introduce the F series phone last year, but the Covid was on its way, and we weren’t sure what to anticipate from the market. Things began to improve in the second half of 2020, and a large number of individuals began purchasing second smartphones. This year, the months of March, April, and May were particularly difficult. However, the importance of the phone is returning to people’s lives,” Anuj explained.

His response to speculations claiming that the Poco F3 GT may arrive on July 22, the same date as the anticipated OnePlus Nord 2, was dismissive of the claims. Poco India had published a social media post last week in which it referred to the OnePlus Nord 2, which sparked suspicion about a possible launch date conflict between the two devices.

The first Poco phone to use an AMOLED display.

The Poco F3 GT would be the first smartphone from the firm to use an AMOLED display in India. Anuj has verified that the Poco F3 GT would include a 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED display with HDR 10+ compatibility and DC Dimming, which will be powered by Qualcomm. It is this latter feature that allows you to regulate the brightness settings on an AMOLED panel. With the Poco F3 GT, Poco intends to provide an excellent multi-media experience, and the phone has been designed to employ the DCI-P3 color gamut to do this.

“I received a slew of queries wondering why Poco hasn’t released a phone with an AMOLED display.  The reason for this was because I was dissatisfied with the type of panels we had. We were looking for an AMOLED display with a high refresh rate and DC dimming, and we’ve found it in the Poco F3 GT.” He verified that this is the company’s first AMOLED display phone in India.

Poco had already introduced the Poco X3 Pro earlier this year, which had a 120Hz refresh rate on an IPS LCD display, but that model was discontinued.

The Poco F3 GT will also be equipped with dual speakers that will enable Dolby Atmos. As far as Anuj is concerned, they will be the best-sounding speakers found on a Poco smartphone to date.

“We have excellent speakers on the X series smartphones, therefore the Poco F3 GT needed to have similarly excellent speakers. I believe that they are by far the finest speakers that we have ever included on a Poco smartphone. “I don’t believe there is anything that comes close,” he continued.

Three microphones and three WiFi antennas will also be included in the device’s specifications. Both the first and second are anticipated to improve call quality, as well as provide assistance with in-game audio. The extra WiFi antennae on the Poco F3 GT should guarantee that the device has an uninterrupted internet connection.

New body design for Poco F3 GT

Poco has established a distinct brand identity for itself by releasing phones with fashionable designs, the majority of which have been released this year. Fans of smartphones reacted well to both the Poco M3 and Poco M3 Pro 5G models released by Xiaomi. In addition to its attractive appearance, the Poco F3 GT will emphasize durability. As of now, the business has stated that the phone will include an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy frame, a glass body, and three different types of bevels, including a square bevel on the sides and a concave bevel on the top.

“When you are performing for an extended period of time, you want comfort as well. We are putting a lot of emphasis on design, construction, and comfort with the F series. This is something we haven’t done previously with the Poco smartphones,” Anuj added.

The smartphone takes its name from the legendary GT automobiles of the past, which represented the pinnacle of long-term performance.

One of the first Poco smartphones to feature a premium glass back in the country, this will be one of the first in the country. Poco has applied an anti-fingerprint coating on top of the matte surface to make it more durable. A spokesperson for Anuj confirmed that the phone will be available in two color options in India: Predator Black and Gunmetal Silver.

Yes, this phone does not come in the famous Poco Yellow color scheme.

Pricing for the Poco F3 GT in India

Anuj predicts that the Poco F3 GT would cost about Rs 30,000 in India. The result is that there may be pricing variations on each side of the price tag. As Anuj has stated, the phone will most likely be priced under Rs 35,000 for all of its versions, and you can anticipate the pricing to be more aggressive overall. As a result, the Poco F3 GT will be in direct competition with the OnePlus Nord 2, which will be equipped with the same MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC.

“There has been a significant shift in the smartphone market during the previous three years. We could have made a straightforward F1 successor, which would have meant cutting out everything else and focusing just on performance. However, consumers in the mid-premium sector are dissatisfied with one feature of the product. Quality components, such as the build quality and the glass back, are all costly” he added. According to Anuj, this would result in the Poco F3 GT being significantly more costly than the Poco F1, but it will be unlike any other phone at the price.

Poco is continuing to make strides forward from the previous F series phone. At the time of its debut, the Poco F1 was retailing for approximately Rs 21,000 (approximately). Anuj clarified that it is not possible to introduce an F series smartphone at that price without making further concessions to the quality of the device. This is mostly due to an increase in the cost of components over the previous 18 months, as well as the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on the industry.

”Things have changed so quickly that it would not be able to price a phone as low as Rs 20,000 if we want to produce a replica of the Poco X3 Pro with the same components. So, although I don’t want to raise expectations by stating that the Poco F3 GT will be priced outrageously, I do believe it will be a one-of-a-kind device that will carve out a niche for itself,” Anuj explained.

Other features of the Poco F3 GT

In addition to having shoulder buttons for easier gameplay, the Poco F3 GT is expected to have a triple rear camera setup that may include a 64-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The Poco F3 GT is expected to be a rebranded variant of the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, which means that it should also have shoulder buttons for easy gameplay. On the front, it will include a 16-megapixel camera for taking selfies.

Is the Poco UI on the way?

Poco has continued to use Xiaomi’s own Android skin MIUI on its devices, even though the firm has separated from its parent company. The supporters of Poco have been clamoring for the development of a Poco-specific user interface. Anuj informed us that conversations are currently taking place in this regard, but that there are no imminent plans to provide a different user interface shortly.

“The back end of this requires a large team of people who are always working on it, which necessitates a significant investment. This is an area where our collaboration with Xiaomi has been really beneficial. The topic has obviously come up, and we have spoken about it, but it is not an easy decision,” Anuj explained.

With a clean portfolio in India, Poco intends to avoid launching too many devices in the year 2021, according to the company. Anuj stated that the firm introduced six phones in the previous year and that the figure may not be exceeded in 2021 as well. It is likely that the Poco F3 GT will be the firm’s fifth smartphone this year, and that the company will release one more handset before the conclusion of this calendar year.
